Communication strategies
Communication strategies for advocating to health care providers for people who are homeless are:
- be prepared and organized to speak about the situation
- be clear about the questions to be asked of the health care provider
- be assertive and comfortable in interacting with doctors and other health care providers
- be professional yet confident in interacting with health care providers. This means being respectful when communicating, avoiding using curse words and yelling, listening effectively and not being scared to ask questions
- be positive and thankful for assistance
